 | 1766-1767 Land Deeds Bedford County, Virginia Book C-3 Index by Ann Chilton obtained by David Vardiman from library in Paris, Kentucky Page 1 - Wm Vardeman in 1766 shown in Bedford County, VA as a neighbor to Henry Snow
Page 17 - Peter Vardeman Sr. in 1767 in Bedford County, VA deeded 255 acres to Thomas Snow
According to Jack Vardaman,
"This entry is very important as Peter's wife, Prudence, is specified as releasing
her dower rights to this property. This establishes that Peter Vardeman, son of
William, has a wife named Prudence at this time (1767). This is a very
important piece of evidence to support the identification of the Peter Vardeman
in Kentucky who had a wife Prudence and who left a will in Shelby Co., KY, in
1808, as the same Peter Vardeman, son of William, who was in Bedford
County, VA, in 1767."

 | 1780s - Rebecca Newland House in Crab Orchard, Kentucky As to the Rebecca Newland House....Lindsey Stephenson was her great grandfather and I believe that Lindsey once owned the house. If he did, he may have gotten through his relationship with Morgan Vardeman, as Morgan’s will states that he is leaving his estate to sons John and William Vardeman and to his grandson, Lindsey Vardeman Stephenson. Lindsey V. Stephenson was born on 14 Oct 1830, the same day that Morgan’s daughter (wife of Lindsey Stephenson and Lindsey V. Stephenson’s mother), Annie E. Vardeman Stephenson died.
I understand that the Commonwealth of Kentucky has started to work on the house....maybe not to repair it, but to stabilize it.

 | 1782-1788 Kentucky
Petitions of the early inhabitants of Kentucky to the General Assembly of Virginia: 1769-1792 Peter Vardeman signed 3 petitions between 1782-1788 when Kentucky was still part of Virginia. He asked for better government or for Kentucky to be given its independence from Virginia, for Bourbon County to be split based on the terrain so those north of Licking Creek wouldn't have to pass a dangerous area infested by savages on their way to the court house, and for a tobacco inspection building to be built on the land of one of the residents closer to their homes.
