Jackson County District Judge Paul E Vardeman ruled in favor of the plaintiff, Ross Early, to recover his Myna Bird that he bought in 1970 in Japan and had been lost since July 1973. The bird named King Koncho was found in Noah's Pet Shop in April 1976 by the plaintiff and the store owner would not return the bird. Ross Early supplied a list of phrases King Koncho could say one being, "I'm the Earlys Bird."

National Guardsmen replaced firefighters who went on an illegal strike in 1975 costing $128,782.72. Judge Paul E Vardeman ruled the 12 former and present officials of the firefighters union must reimburse the state plus 9% interest of $25,000 bringing the total to just over $150,000.

Jerry Vardaman, professor of Archaeology at the Cobb Institute of Archaeology of Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi deciphered a stone tablet called the Aemilius Secundus discovered 300 years ago in Beirut and housed in Italy's Venice Museum. The inscription describes a census ordered by Quirinius, Governor of Syria, a few years before 10 B.C. According to the Gospel of Luke, (Luke 2:2) Quirinius was Governor at the time of the census that sent Mary and Joseph from their home in Nazareth to Bethlehem, Joseph's home town.
