  • Notes
    • Around 1883 is Best guess based on conversation with Kathryn Hart Nunn. Stella was 1 year older than Mollie.

Obituary confirmed birthdate as 11 July 1883
    • (Research):Email from Aunt Billie 7/25/2010:

Kathryn Gibbons' mother (Stella Almeda Harris) was another one of Grandma Mollie's sisters and lived just around the corner from Grandma in Slater. Grandma Mollie moved to Slater from their farm in Salisbury after Grandpa Miles died to live with her sister, Aunt Emma. I believe she then inherited this house after Aunt Emma died or perhaps bought it. A source for this information would be Eva Sue Gibbons Thomas who lives in Kansas City, MO.

15 Apr 2018 - listed in P.W. Harris Family Bible:
"Our tenth, Almeda, Stella Harris was born July 11, 1883."

9 May 2018 - Found tombstone photo on Find a Grave.

24 May 2018 - Email from Aunt Billie,
"There is a story about Stella Harris Nunn's husband that he killed a man, in Slater, I think and was never prosecuted for it. I don't know when this occurred. There is a man living in Slater right now who knows a lot of the history first hand. I can give you his name and phone no., if you are interested. He is elderly, essentially home bound and lonely, so will talk your ear off, but a neat guy. His name is Corky Gerald Gerard. Phone: 1 660 529 2275. His name was given to us by an elderly friend who also lives in Slater and knew that if anyone knew the older Slater history, he would.

He also knows many of the Vardimans/ Bablers. Aunt Gladys Babler Vardeman was Uncle Eddie Vardemans wife. They never had any children. this would have been Bill's Aunt, his father's brother's wife from Slater. They are both buried in Slater, I think. There is a lot I can help you with from this end as far as finding grave sites, if you like. And we could get them on Find a Grave, if we can do that?"
