Spotsylvania Court House

Notes: 13 Aug 2012 Email from Dan, Confederate historian for the Spotsylvania Court House Confederate

"The reason I am writing is that I am fairly sure that the fallen Confederate soldier from Company K, 10th Alabama listed in C.S.A. records as Thomas W.R. Vardaman is the Thomas R. Vardaman listed on page 32 of your Family Trees PDF. Based on his records, he most likely perished in the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House. There is no further record of him after a Clothing Receipt of 2nd quarter, 1864. The Burial Register for the Spotsylvania Court House Confederate Ledger lists this man as T.W.R.V., Company K, 10 Ala.

Additionally, his kinsman, T.W. Vardaman of same company & regiment, was KIA 10/2/1864 while on picket duty near Petersburg, VA. It seems he is the Thomas W. Vardaman listed on the same page 32 of your Family Trees PDF.

Please find attached a photo of the C.S.A. marker for him in that cemetery."
