| Newspaper Article 1894 06/18 The Daily Northwestern Oshkosh, WI Oscar E Vardaman, a working engineer, at the stockyards was harassed, beaten, and pursued by a crowd of strikers for returning to work. Oscar turned and in self defense fatally shot Albert Miles, one of the foremost pursuers. Vardaman gave himself up to officers and stock yard officials backed his need for self defense. |
