Claude O Vardaman, Republican Alabama State Committee Chairman and a backer of Gen Dwight D. Eisenhower for President conceded that Senator Robert Taft of Ohio would have a majority of the Alabama votes at the Republican Convention in Chicago. Alabama's 10 district delegates stand 7 for Taft and 3 for Eisenhower.
