Vardaman was a faculty member at Baylor for thirty-three years and was the Jo Murphy Chair in International Education. He traveled extensively with student groups on international trips and was the director of the “Baylor in the British Isles” program from 1981 to 1992. He earned his master’s degree in history from the University of Minnesota and his doctorate from Vanderbilt.
