Newspaper Article 1946 02/19 Traverse City Record Eagle Traverse City, MI
James K Vardaman Jr testified at the Senate Banking Subcommittee hearing that he was a financial troubleshooter. He was president of the Tower Grove Bank and Trust Co. He told the board either it quit or he did. The board stayed. Next he was president of a shoe company which was on the verge of bankruptcy. The company changed its name to Vardaman Shoe Company and the company might have pulled into the clear, if someone hadn't padded the inventory reports. Vardaman didn't know who padded the reports. He put the company into bankruptcy and went off to war. A suit was filed against him accusing him of dipping into the till. While he was in Okinawa he learned the case had been dismissed and he had been exonerated.
