Newspaper Article 1921 02/09 The Atlanta Constitution Atlanta, GA
James M Vardaman, son of former United States Senator, James K Vardaman, of Mississippi, and assistant Manager of the bond department of a Memphis bank, was today given a "vacation" pending investigation into his connection with a sale of $135,000 blocks of liberty bonds, none of which have been identified as stolen. Bonds stolen in Brooklyn and being marketed in Memphis are being tracked by Memphis and New York detectives. Vardaman stated that he declined to buy the lot of stolen bonds because the suspect in question was not a customer.
