In July 2003 the Vardeman, Holmes and Stephenson descendants rededicated the Cedar Creek Cemetery which was moved from previous Vardeman property down the road from the William Whitley house to make room for a reservoir. After an explanation from David Vardiman, who coordinated the relocation with Kentucky State officials and University of Kentucky Archaeology/Anthropology professors, a reenactment of late 1700s/early 1800s milita commenced then family members were given flowers to put on the graves. It was well attended with 100+ descendants.
