"I was 19 in 1987 and had just completed my Freshman year at Christian Heritage College.  The Vardiman family reunion was held in Estes Park, Colorado and lasted for 3 days from July 31 - August 2.  Larry and Billie's families used campers, Ted & Ann camped in a tent, David's family rented a cabin and Steve's family and Grandpa John and Grandma Lou had hotel rooms. Mary Phil and her son, Tony, were not able to come.  We met and ate at Uncle David's cabin.  David gave out family photos from his mother's trunk, my Grandma Lou, throughout the weekend.

Saturday, August 1st
We took family photos at the peak in Estes Park. In the evening we ate dinner at the Lazy B ranch.  It was a real cowboy dinner (steak, beans and coffee) and cowboy entertainment (music).

Sunday, August 2nd
We had a church service outside. Grandpa John led singing (Louise had remarried 8 years after her first husband's death).  Larry read from the Bible and gave a talk.  That afternoon we all surprised Grandma Lou with an early birthday party to celebrate her upcoming 70th birthday on August 30, 1987.

Monday, August 3rd
Kelly, Laura and I drove back with Grandpa John and Grandma Lou to their house in Redfeather, Colorado.  Dad and Mom, Larry and Jeannette, drove our car to their house and we stayed there until August 3rd.  Daniel went back to Marshall, Missouri with Uncle Bill and Aunt Billie to spend time with cousin Phillip as they're only 3 months apart."
