The company changed its name to Vardaman Shoe Company and the company might have pulled into the clear, if someone hadn't padded the inventory reports. Vardaman didn't know who padded the reports. He put the company into bankruptcy and went off to war. A suit was filed against him accusing him of dipping into the till. While he was in Okinawa he learned the case had been dismissed and he had been exonerated. |
